Polish Cello Quartet

Born in Katowice in 1988 into a family with long artistic traditions  Wojciech Fudala started to play cello at the age of seven. From an early age he worked under a well-known polish teacher prof. Pawel Glombik. He continued his education as a student of prof. Glombik at the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice.  As a stipendist of the Government of Belgium, he studied with Jeroen Reuling at the Royal Conservatory of  Music in Brussels and in 2012 has obtained a diploma with a highest distinction. Since 2011 he is a student of Gary Hoffman at the Chapelle Musicale Reine Elisabeth.

He has trained his musical skills during master classes under the supervision of Ralph Kirchbaum, Peter Wispelwey, Julius Berger and Apollon Musagete Quartet.

Wojciech Fudala has won many awards and received numerous acknowledgments at national and international competitions, among them:

2nd Prize and a Special Award for a compulsory piece at the M. Spisak International Music Competition in Dabrowa Gornicza (2010),

1st Prize at the E. Baert International Cello Competition in Brussels (2010),

1st Prize at the L.Boccherini Cello Competition in Zamosc (2005),

1st Prize at the International Cello Competition in Kosice (2002,2004),

3rd Prize at the D. Popper International Cello Competition in Varpalota (2004).

He was a finalist of the aLive Soloist Competition in Sankt Petersburg (2012) and

a semi-finalist of the Lutoslawski Cello Competition in Warsaw (2009).

He made his orchestral debut in 2005 performing Luigi Boccherini G Major cello concerto with the Festival Orchestra of the Zamosc Musical Days Festival under conductor Lukasz Borowicz. Year after he was invited to perform C. Saint-Saens cello concerto accompanied by a cello ensemble of the Universitat der Kunste Berlin on the evening concert at the UDK. Since then he has performed as a soloist with numerous orchestras such as  Symphonic Orchestra of the K. Szymanowski Academy of Music (AOS), Silesian Philharmonic Orchestra,  Brussels Chamber Orchestra, Orchestre Royal de Chambre de Wallonie under conductors Massimiliano Caldi, Jerzy Kosek, Michael Guttman, Augustin Dumay.

Wojciech Fudala is also an active chamber musician. He has cooperated with such musicians as Christophe Schiller, Priya Mitchel, Maria Szwajger-KuĊ‚akowska, Francois Guye, Lorenzo Gatto and ensembles AUKSO Chamber Orchestra and Orkiestra Muzyki Nowej. He was invited for chamber music festivals: Vratislavia Cantans, Warsaw Autumn,  Festival de Megeve, Enghien International Musical Encounters, Schiermonikoog Festival. Since year 2012 he is a member of the Polish Cello Quartet founded by the outstanding cellists of the polish young generation.

For his artistic achievements he has been awarded with a Scholarship of the Polish Ministry of Culture, Polish National Foundation for Kids, Annual Award of the President of City Katowice, Ingeborg Koberle Prize.

Wojciech Fudala plays on the 18th  century instrument by Benjamin Banks, which was given to him by Chapelle Musicale Reine Elisabeth.
